Thwing, Annie Haven. Map and Model of 18th Century Boston.
1909
Built by a Maine carpenter and based on Thwing’s nearly 30 years of research, the map and model includes 119 miniature wooden buildings representing Boston from 1630 to 1820. They are first displayed at a fundraising fair for the Boston Infant Asylum, then at a city exposition. Thwing donates the materials to Old South in December 1909. The map is subsequently revised twice and has been displayed along with the other materials ever since.
